AS #1 is the first release of the Otazu Artist Series, conceived by the artist Leandro Erlich, a limited edition from D.O.P. Pago de Otazu (2009 vintage, 600 bottles). A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (85%), Merlot (10%) and Tempranillo (5%) whose grapes were selected by hand in our vineyards qualified as D.O.P. Pago de Otazu. Complex and fine, with a fresh, persistent finish. In a terroir of limestone soil, of singular climate and landscape, a harmony emerges between the varieties that brings out the endless nuances of this place.

WinemakingHand-harvested in October 2009, it cold-macerates for a week at 9 °C and then ferments for three weeks at 28 °C, spends seventeen months in French oak — 40 % new and 60 % once-used — and rests forty months in bottle, finally yielding 600 bottles.

Sight
Morello cherry red, with a bright reddish rim.
Nose
A fresh, very subtle nose dominated by black fruit. Spiced and mineral notes.
Palate
A wine of great complexity. A gentle palate, with echoes of fresh fruit. Elegant, fine and long.

Pâtés and cheeses, small game — pheasant and partridge — barbecued meats and suckling pig.
