Otazu Foundation
The Otazu Foundation, established in 2016, is dedicated to the management and direction of activities at the art center located in Otazu, Navarra. Its focus is not only limited to the conservation and exhibition of the contemporary art collection, but also promotes a diverse program of artistic activities. Its mission is to generate knowledge and promote the understanding of the complex social, economic and creative fabrics that characterize our time, through a dialogue between the visitor and the work.
In 2020, the Foundation received the 'A' Prize for Collecting, awarded by the ARCO Foundation, for its work in the conservation and dissemination of contemporary art.
Activities
The Foundation’s key activities include the creation and custody of an art collection, art education, the annual Otazu ArtWeekend event and the organization of a Biennial of Monumental Contemporary Art.
Contemporary art collection
The Otazu Foundation’s contemporary art collection is the core of its artistic and curatorial activities. The Foundation is based on the creation of exhibitions and educational programs that focus on the research of the collection, the valorization of its works and the creation of links with its creators. The collection is considered a didactic prism that focuses on diverse audiences and is open to the loan of its works to other museums and art centers, both nationally and internationally.
Collaborations with artists
The Foundation has collaborated with several prominent artists, such as Manolo Valdés, Xavier Mascaró and Jordi Bernadó, with the aim of enriching the dialogue between art and nature.
