Genios de Otazu is an artistic project that the Otazu Art Foundation started in 2016. It seeks to synthesise and combine the artist’s creative work with that of the winemaker. It is a dialogue between the artist’s universe and the wine universe, to learn from each other.
As part of the project, the artists are invited to immerse themselves in the world of winemaking together with their families —from the manual harvest and grape selection to the final blend— with the opportunity to take part in the whole journey that turns a grape into wine.

David Magán
Madrid, 1979
Trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid, David Magán develops his work within sculpture and installation. His pieces —geometric modules in glass or acrylic— flood the space with colour when light penetrates their surface, transforming according to the position of the viewer.
“I wanted to build in space through the plane and actively involve the spectator. The result is a virtual sculpture floating in the centre of a 3×3 metre screen: a work of light that works the limits of drawing and sculpture, of the physical and the ethereal.”

Pablo Armesto
Schaffhausen, Switzerland, 1970
Painter, graphic designer and creator of installations and public art, Pablo Armesto works by challenging the boundaries between science, technology and art. For this edition, he created a heart with an ink that glows in the dark, turning every bottle into a unique object where light —a fundamental element in his work— comes to life.

Ruby red with a violet rim. Nose of black fruit with spices and mineral notes. Intense entry, round tannin and a fresh, persistent finish.
